Emily Batchelder
Communications Specialist

Emily Ann Batchelder serves as Communications Specialist for Serve DC. Prior to joining the Serve DC team, Emily was a Press Secretary at Advocates for Youth, a DC-based national nonprofit organization dedicated to creating programs and advocating for policies that help young people make informed and responsible decisions about their reproductive and sexual health.

At Advocates, Emily was responsible for day-to-day media outreach as well as crafting and disseminating positive, informative messages about public health issues such as HIV/AIDS, STD and teen pregnancy prevention.

Originally from New Hampshire, Emily moved to Washington, DC from North Carolina where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. When she’s not at the office, Emily is a Foster Program Volunteer for the Washington Humane Society and an aspiring yogi. Emily currently resides in Ward 1.
