Connell Wise
Community Leader

Commissioner Connell Wise founded Connell Wise Broadcasting Network (CWBN) in February 2007 despite living with health conditions. In addition to educating the community on global and national news Commissioner Wise provides teens and young adults an opportunity to experience journalism. Through his own actions Commissioner Wise tries to show youth that all things are possible.

While balancing his duties as CEO of CWBN, Connell also worked for Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, Ward 5 Councilmember Harry (Tommy) Thomas, Jr., and the Obama Campaign. Commissioner Wise was appointed by Mayor Fenty to the Serve DC Commission making him among the youngest mayoral appointees. He was then appointed as the new Executive Ward 5 respective to the Ward 5 DC Youth Advisory Council on November 10, 2007.

Commissioner Wise received the 2004 Presidential Award for Academic Achievement and is currently an active member of the Junior State of America. He recently attended the Junior Statesman Summer School at Princeton University to study US Politics and Speech. He was recently chosen to be one of over 700 youth from around the world to represent the United States at the 4th World Youth Congress in Canada this summer. In August 2008, Commissioner Wise became the youngest press reporter to have ever attended the Democratic National Convention.

Upon graduating high school he plans to attend the alma mater of his older sibling, Curry College (Boston, MA), where he will study business and political science. Commissioner Wise, who has a personal commitment to his community, has aspirations to one day serve as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for his single member District.

Currently Commissioner Wise is working to start another company called the National Association of Youth-Owned Business (NAYOB) which is dedicated to the development and advancement of youth business owners.
