Sunny Ramchandani
Physician
Sunny Ramchandani was sworn in as a commissioner in September 2007. He has been involved in various volunteer activities for the past 20 years. As a physician, his current service has been primarily based in the medical field, particularly with underserved and uninsured populations.
Dr. Ramchandani previously helped draft a national plan for medical students and residents to help fight childhood obesity, and has mobilized resources to assist injured soldiers and marines returning from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition, a number of his experiences are international: He has helped provide targeted health programs with HIV/AIDS patients in India and has also been part of reconstructing Afghanistan's healthcare system as a member of the Uniformed Services University’s Afghan Reachback project.
Dr. Ramchandani graduated from the US Naval Academy and earned his PhD at Yale University School of Medicine. He also has a Master's of Public Health from Harvard University. His medical specialty is Internal Medicine with an interest in underserved populations and health system redesign. |
