AmeriCorps*VISTA Member Serve DC Serve DC, in the Executive Office of the Mayor, seeks four AmeriCorps*VISTA members to support the Commission on National and Community Service.
Qualifications: Qualified applicants will have experience with local, District of Columbia, nonprofits and/or federal government agencies. Applicants should be creative, energetic, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants should also be proficient in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel. Compensation and Benefits: AmeriCorps*VISTA members who successfully complete a one-year term of service are eligible to receive either an AmeriCorps Education Award or up to $4,725 or an end-of-service stipend. Additional benefits include training, a living allowance, limited health care benefits, relocation expenses, student-loan forbearance or deferment, and noncompetitive eligibility. You may also be eligible for childcare assistance should you need it. In addition to these benefits, AmeriCorps*VISTA members learn new skills and acquire qualities of leadership that help prepare them for jobs, and gain a sense of satisfaction from making a significant contribution to their community.
